Choosing an Ankle Support
Ankle supports and braces come in many styles and materials to help treat weak muscles, tendons, ligaments, sprains, strains, pain and inflammation.
Supports
- Neoprene supports provide compression and heat retention to the ankle area. Some come with an additional spandex wrap for extra support.
- An open heel design provides a snug, comfortable fit.
- Some ankle supports have removable magnets that attach over pain sites.
- You can choose between pull-on styles, lace-up styles and supports with hook and loop fasteners.
Braces
Ankle braces offer a range of features for support, stability and comfort:
- Neoprene blend braces are ideal for use during exercise and other physical activities. They permit full range of movement while providing comfortable support and protections against bumps and blows. They also retain body heat for increased circulation.
- Braces with gel cushions around the ankle or an Achilles Heel cutout offer added comfort.
- Removable and adjustable splints help to provide a custom fit.
- Fiber–Plast® braces provide durable support and stability to the ankle. They help to restrict excessive movement that can cause ankle sprains.
- Antimicrobial treatments on the inner and outer linings inhibit bacteria growth on the braces. It is intended to protect the product, and does not extend protection to the skin.
